BOPET Films Europe recently teamed up with Arcus to bust the myth that PET is not compatible in pyrolysis processes.
Analysis of a series of mixed plastic samples closely mimicking the current material mix of post consumer recycled waste streams proved that mixed plastic laminates can be processed efficiently, resulting in a 65% pyrolysis oil yield and a 95% conversion of the feed to useful products.
We believe that feedstock recycling is the most viable option for recycling large quantities of polyolefin rich flexible packaging waste, and that this data proves that PET does not negatively impact this process.
